My name is Vishal Rao. This is a chronicle of my journey as an angel investor.
I'm a very active Angel Investor [AngelList, Crunchbase] interested in early stage (pre-seed, seed, series A) rounds of technology startups that have potential to be billion dollar businesses. My angel investing career is not my first. You see, I am an experienced software engineer/tech lead in a career that has spanned over 20 years. My experience from my previous career affords me unique insights and abilities that I can leverage to help my portfolio companies. If you select me to join you as an investor on your entrepreneurial journey, I'd be happy to advise you on technology decisions whether it be selecting components of your tech stack, or helping you recruit/evaluate technical employees.
I listen to and review about 5 founder pitches a week, on average. In 2021, I've been averaging about 2 deals per month. My check sizes typically range between 5,000 USD and 25,000 USD with most of my deals right around 15,000 USD. I am willing and capable to write much larger checks, given the right opportunity.
I pride myself in being very founder friendly - I'm responsive, empathetic, and experienced. Most importantly, I have tremendous respect for founders and their drive, talent, and ambition.
